The organizing committee of the 67th Canadian Chemical Engineering Conference (CSChE), is proud to announce the 3-Minute Elevator Pitch Competition session. The competition follows the spirit of the 3 minute thesis (3MT) ® competition that originated at the University of Queensland. This session is an opportunity for graduate students to showcase their innovative and significant research to a wider audience of the chemical engineering community in Canada. It is open to all graduate students. Participants have 3 minutes or less to present their research to a panel of non-specialist judges. The challenge is to present complex research information in an engaging, accessible, and compelling way.
The participant should be an MSc or PhD student (officially enrolled as a graduate student as of Jul 1, 2017). Participants must register by the early bird deadline.
Graduate students interested in this competition need to submit an abstract to the 3-Minute Elevator Pitch session of CSChE 2017. The abstract, written in layman terms, should address the problem that your research project aims to solve; your contributions and their significance. Selected candidates will be notified to participate in the 3-Minute Elevator Pitch Competition.
Rules for the Competition (more details will be sent to selected candidates)
- The contestant has a maximum of 3 minutes to present.
- One powerpoint slide is permitted
- The competition will be in English
Speakers will be evaluated based on the topic of research, comprehension, engagement and communication.
The judging panel will be composed of the session chair (Z Li) and five other members (including two graduate students) from universities across Canada.
Abstract Submission Deadline
The deadlines are the same as for conference abstracts, submissions open March 24. The abstract submission deadline is August 10. After abstract screening, all selected candidates will be notified. Applicants who have not registered for the conference by the early bird deadline will be automatically removed.
